OK a friend asked me this question and asked me to post it here, hoping for some help......

Can anyone give me another word for cousin or aunt or uncle or loved one in another language? I am looking for Ireland/Galic first.
I have cousins that will be godparents and don't want to call them aunt or uncle bc they are cousins but would like a title for them out of respect.
So I thought maybe the word cousin or aunt or uncle in another language would sound nice.

The word for family, teaghlach [tcheye-lah], refers to the extended family, or the household. There are a number of other terms for family and children.

The words for children in general is páisti or leanaí. Parents are tuismitheoiri.

It is not correct to refer to your family as your 'clann'. While this sounds romantic, it means you are referring to the children of your family, not your
family as a whole.

Ah! Awesome! I've always wanted to learn Gailic. It's so beautiful when I hear it sung.

Let's see:

primo: male cousin - Spanish
prima: female cousin - Spanish
mi amor: my love - Spanish
hoahanau: cousin - Hawaiian
ku'u ipo: my sweetheart - Hawaiian
ku'u aloha: my love - Hawaiian
Kusine: cousin - German
meine Susse: my sweetheart - German
mein Lieb: my love - German

Hope that gives you some ideas and hope I didn't get any articles or genders wrong!
